From Etching Stone to Building Digital Bridges: The Evolution of Lone Bird Studio

Forty-seven years. That’s how long Lone Bird Studio has been part of my life.

It started in a barn, etching stone and glass by hand. Art shows, folding tables, long drives, and lots of cold coffee. Back then, “marketing” meant handing someone a flyer and hoping they’d come back next year.

Then the digital tide rolled in.

By the late ’90s, I’d swapped a stylus for code. Lone Bird became a web and graphics company—designing, building, and helping small businesses navigate a world that kept shifting under their feet. WordPress became the foundation, and soon hosting, support, and security joined the mix.

Now, in 2025, the changes aren’t slowing down. AI, automation, cloud everything—it’s a different world. And Lone Bird is changing again.

I’m merging hosting and support under one roof. Letting go of some services. Adding new specialties. Leaning into what matters most: people, creativity, and local impact. You’ll see more of that in the coming months—especially in how we support artists and help small businesses make the most of their web presence.

The truth is, change isn’t the enemy. Complacency is. If you’ve been running a business for a while, you know what I mean. You either adapt, or you get stuck.

Lone Bird Studio isn’t stuck. It’s evolving—again.

And personally? I’m making space for the next chapter too. Midnight Falcon is where I return to my artistic roots. The WNC Artist Market is where I help others do the same.

Thanks to all of you who’ve stuck around. The best work happens when we work together.

Curious about what’s next or need help navigating your own shift? Let’s talk. Lone Bird is still here—smarter, leaner, and ready for what’s ahead.
